Ready, Set, Stop!
Have you ever been on the verge of stepping out of your comfort zone? Maybe you’ve been talking about it for weeks, persuading yourself it’s the right thing to do. This thing just won’t leave you!
So you finally sit down. You’re ready to start! But wait, nothing is lining up, you’re exhausted and your window of time is slamming shut. That literally happened to me tonight as I sat down to write for the first time in a year.
When Michael Hyatt said “perfectionism is the mother of procrastination” he stepped all over my toes! Here are some excuses why I haven’t written to you in a while:
1. It’s been busy.
2. There’s a lot of changes.
3. It’s been very busy.
Sound familiar?
I miss sharing with my readers!
But while I’ve been going at the speed of life, I’ve been thinking “Oh! I could share this story with our readers!” Or “Man! This was a new thought on how to talk to my teenager! I should share it with our readers!”
And even a brave “Um, I’m going to explore this new response to my kids. It may go great, it may go bust. I should share it with our readers!” You are so important in my thoughts, I’m constantly thinking of tid-bits that may inspire you!
And then I got enlightened. You ready for this? It will always be busy. It will never slow down. The “simple, slow life” is a myth. Therefore, if I don’t fill my time intentionally with what I believe to be important, I’ll fill it with urgent stuff that distracts me! So…
Here I go!! I’m blogging again! Even though we’re probably on the verge of our busiest season so far, there’s no time like the present to kick things off. The kids are growing at alarming speeds (giving me plenty of stuff to share with you), I’m being stretched to alarming lengths (giving me even more to write about), we’re saying “yes” to God on some very exciting things (giving me… oh you know)!
Now. It’s your turn:
Is there something important you’re putting off thinking you’ll get to it when “things line up” and “it slows down a bit”? You’ve got someone to inspire and encourage. I know you do! The world is waiting for you to happen. Let this fair wind fill your sails and cast off from Port Comfort.
