The Joy of Spinning Plates
Did you ever play Chinese Spinning Plates as a kid? I did! I could spin one. Just one. Some friends could spin one in each hand, and then there’s the people who see it as an art form and do this:
Lately, I’ve felt like I’m spinning plates: Parenting. Homeschool prep. Friendships. Church family. Exercise. Healthy diet. Business. Marriage. Breathe. Just breathe. Savings. Taxes. Unexpected expenses. Building a team. Personal Growth.
My tendency is to figure out if there’s a plate I need to edit off the list. But the truth is, I’d just find another plate to spin! So the secret is in finding joy while you master the art of spinning plates.
Some people look on and go “I could never do that”, but like an artist, it just requires a perspective that what you’re mastering is beautiful, and that boils down to eternal value. I spin all my plates because it involves people. I love people. People are eternal beings.
God has given us a capacity to love and serve bigger than we imagine! That’s what Brad constantly tells me… he likes to quote
You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
A.A. Milne
I’ve just been crazy enough to believe it. I don’t know if I’ll ever look as graceful as the gals in the picture while I spin the plates, but maybe if I focus on enjoying the journey, I will inspire a few eternals to go for it!
What are you going for? Who is on the other side of your creativity, receiving life and love?
