Where’s the Joy and Pleasure?
Have you ever started something and after you get into it for a bit, you start realizing some truths about yourself? This is exactly what is happening in me right now!
I started a new business about 6 months ago and have realized when I get laser focused, I get intense, and that can lead to frustration when others interrupt me. Guys. I have 5 kids. It’s bound to happen. All of it.
So this morning, I received an answer to this dilemma (cause who wants to be a grump around their family? Right?) while listening to my devo. Psalm 16:11 reminded me that He shows me the path of life, and that in His PRESENCE is fullness joy and at HIS RIGHT HAND are pleasures for evermore!
As I told my kids of my experience, He gave me an example. (Another Aha moment! Tell your kids about your spiritual journey!)
“What if I gave you an awesome gift, but all you did was focus on the gift and forgot all about me?” Their answer was a resounding “That’s just wrong!”
Obviously, when we first get a gift, we want to play with it. A LOT. We want to get to know how it works and understand how to get more out of it. But it’s so much better if we enjoy that process with the gift giver!
What realization has surfaced for you? How has Father answered it?
